Ida Ruth Adams Ely, daughter of the late Hilliard Adams, and Nannie Louise Akins, was born in Wake County, NC., on January 30, 1943. She departed this life May 20, 2020.

Ida attended several educational Institutions and was a teacher’s assistant in Florida and North Carolina. She retired from Wake County Public School System in 2009.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Lee Ely, Sr., and from this union was born three children. She had many passions, teaching and sewing traveling, and balancing her time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Fond memories of her life will be cherished by her two daughters, Sonja Ely of Garner, N.C; Eleanor Sykes (Kelvin Sykes) of Raleigh, N.C., daughter-in-law, Gia Ely (Robert Lee Ely, Jr. (deceased), of Durham, N.C. One sister, Margaret March, of Raleigh, N.C.; Three Grandsons; Isaiah Solomon (Hau Solomon), Staff Sargent, James Robert Solomon, (Letticia Solomon), Derrick Ely, (Tristan Ely); Two Granddaughters, Brittany Ely(Jeremy Burch), Kendall Ely( Kacie Ann Freudenberger); Four precious great-grandchildren; Josiah, Jade, Ezra, Asher Cashe; Three nieces; Clara Meekens, Etongia Richardson, Alecia Adams; four nephews; Elbert McNeil, Larry March, Elvin McNeil, Bryan Acker, Paxton Adams.
