Notes

Dorothy May Wells Logan, age 96, died on April 29, 2017 in Raleigh, NC. Born in Isle of Wight County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Ellen Peden Wells. Dot was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Ollie Logan (d.2012) and two brothers (Nollie and Ernest Wells) plus two sisters (Sarah Lonberger and Nellie Drewery). Survivors include daughter Jeanette Mason of Raleigh, NC and son Wayne (wife Marcia) Logan of Hockessin DE. She is also survived by a grandson, four granddaughters, two great-grandsons and two great granddaughters, plus several nephews and nieces.

Dot was a homemaker who enjoyed vegetable gardening. The bounty was canned and frozen for family and friends. Her flowers added a touch of beauty to a rural county road. She was a member of Central Hill Baptist Church for more than 70 years. She served in many different capacities at the church including Sunday school teacher for the adult women. The church was her source of friends and support.

Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be conducted at Littles Funeral Home (Smithfield, VA) on May 28, 2017. Family visitation will begin at 2:00 PM with the service to follow at 3:00 PM. A private interment will be held at Mill Swamp Cemetery.
