Notes

Mary “Anne” (Ronan) Hoff, 97 of Creedmoor, North Carolina passed away peacefully at home on October 2nd, 2016.

Mrs. Hoff, born to WIlliam J. Ronan and Geraldine J. (Monahan) Ronan on January 14, 1919 in Detroit, Michigan was one of six children. She is survived by her sister, Constance (Mansour) and predeceased by her other siblings, Richard, William, Margaret (Bartholomew) and Geraldine (Sterling).

Anne attended Visitation High School in Detroit but left after 2 years to work and help support her family during the Depression as Manager of the Mail/Records Department for the US Government. Prior to moving to N.C. in 1993 with her husband, Jean Claire “Bud” Hoff, they lived in Detroit, MI, Parma, OH, Stamford, CT, Atlanta, GA and Stratford, CT. A devoted, loving and thoughtful wife and gentle mother dedicated to her family, Anne managed and provided a safe and loving home for their seven children and their extracurricular activities while Bud was away for work. She often said how proud she was of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne found great strength in her faith, had a love of music, enjoyed gardening, travel, football, baseball, hockey and golf. She especially enjoyed the many hours she spent working on the family tree to leave as her legacy for her children and future generations.

Anne was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Jean Claire “Bud” Hoff of Creedmoor NC. She is survived by their four daughters Meg Hoff of Creedmoor NC, Cecelia (Donald) Farrell of Raleigh NC, Mary Hoff of Apex NC, Geri (Terry) Shay of Ridgefield CT. as well as her two sons Robert (Donna Towles) Hoff of Wake Forest NC and Joseph (Sarah) Hoff of Chesterfield MO. She is predeceased by her eldest son, William Hoff of Raleigh NC, (January 2012), an infant daughter, Mary Angela (June 1962) and a granddaughter, Tracy Farrell (January 1991). Also surviving her are eleven grandchildren-Shannon Farrell (Neil Major), Colleen Farrell (Rob Logan), Geoffrey Menko, Dylan, Caitlin and Andrew Shay, Devon (Lauren) Mitchell, Jonathan, Rachel (Daniel) Tankersley, Kate and Alex Hoff, and three great-grandchildren - Elliot Major, Kyra Mitchell and Charlotte Tankersley as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial and Interment will be held on December 3, 2016 at 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27613.

My condolences to Anne's family. I only had the pleasure of being in her company a few times, but found her to be a beautiful, warm and gracious lady. Her daughter Meg always spoke lovingly of her. Anne had a beautiful spirit and I remember her warmth and laughter. -Anne Henderson
