Notes

Ruthe H. Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 5, 2016 at the age of 91. Mrs. Brown grew up and raised her family in Troy, NY, then lived for many years in Lynchburg, VA. She was a resident of Raleigh at the time of her death.

A graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy, Mrs. Brown was a devout Catholic and was devoted to her large, growing family. She was a voracious reader, an avid bridge player and crossword puzzle maven, and passed her enthusiasm for general knowledge on to her grandchildren by rewarding them for feats such as learning all the US State Capitals and the Presidents of the United States, in the order they served. An anchor to her family, she was a wise and devoted friend to virtually everyone she met.

Mrs. Brown is predeceased by her husband, Aloysius J. Brown and her daughter, Mary Patrick Dearing M.D. (Brian). She is survived by her other children, Aloysius J. Brown III (Emerson Santos) of Oak Park, IL, Nadine Brown-Silver (Sean Lawlor) of Albany, NY, Norbert Brown (Elizabeth) of Bourne, MA, Connie Brown (Wali Mohammad) of Albany, NY, and Matthew Brown (Karen) of Raleigh. In addition, she is survived by 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brown’s funeral will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 11401 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 12. There will also be a memorial Mass and inurnment for her at St. Thomas More Church, 3015 Roundelay Rd, Lynchburg, VA on Saturday, October 15 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. We were saddened to hear about your mother's passing. Mrs.Brown played such an
integral role in our adolesence when she lived on Desson Avenue. There are so many fond memories of her, Mr. Brown, and all of you! We will continue to remember her and her many Words of wisdom! She is at peace with Mr. Brown and dear Mary Pat! Take care. Donna and Dave Lawrence

Dear Brown Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your dear mother. It seems like yesterday when we were all playing on Desson Avenue and she was in the kitchen. Your mother was a very warm and caring person, especially to a little girl from the neighbhood. All of you will have a specal remembrance in my prayers during these sad days. What a wonderful reunion with your father and Mary Patrick.
Blessings!
Sister Anne Stephen Wysocki (Linda)

The loveliest woman I have ever known. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all of the many, many lives she has touched. She is in good company.
