Notes

Robert "Bob" Allen Rice Sr. 67, of Clayton NC, Passed away February 18, 2015 at Duke University Hospital in Durham NC.

Born on October 2nd 1947, Robert Allen Rice was born to Gloria Jane and Robert Lee Rice in Louisville,Kentucky. He was known as “Bobby” and “Bobby Allen” growing up and later as “Bob” to his friends and family.

Bob was a career soldier, serving in the United States Army for twenty-five years before retiring in 1991 as a First Sergeant. He served in the Vietnam War and was an instructor state-side during Operation Desert Storm. On February 28, 1970 he married Diane Consuelo Bezares. On June 10, 1971 they had a son, Robert Allen Junior and on February 22, 1974 they had a daughter, Victoria Anne. Bob also has two grandchildren.

Bob’s desire to serve his fellow man carried over from his military service to civilian life. An ever present help, he often reached out to others in need. Stranger, friend or family member, Bob would never hesitate to give whatever and whenever he could. He was always friendly and cheerful and made fast friends with those around him. He will be greatly missed.

Bob was my best friend, and I will never forget him. He believed in me when nobody else did, and his love and patience are the reasons I am where I am today. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't met him early in 2012. I believe everything happens for a reason, and I was exactly where I needed to be on that fateful day. He touched so many peoples' lives, and I know he will continue to be missed. It was so great to watch him interact with everyone in his community; he never had enemies, and I always admired that about him. I am so glad I was able to be a part of his life and he of mine. -Erin K.
