Notes

Gwylda “Gwen” Evangeline Karmasek, 78, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on January 19, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Marion, North Carolina, on January 25, 1936, Gwen was the daughter of Julia Liester Clark and William Melvin Clark. She graduated from Dundalk High School in Maryland in 1954. Gwen worked in finance, inventory and quality control at various companies. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and making apple and peach butter. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed NASCAR (but not Kyle Busch), routed for NC State and Duke Basketball, and loved to watch Phil Mickelson play golf (and beat Tiger Woods). She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Jack Karmasek; second husband Edward Foster; and two sisters, Francis Finnerty and Lavain Klima.

Gwen is survived by her daughter, Denise Hards; sister and brother-in-law Faye and Charles Hagwood; brother-in-law, Steve Finnerty; nieces and nephews, Amy and Laurie Finnerty, Beth and Tom Bond, Penny and Corrado Grieci, Ann and Jim Phillips and Bill Klima; and many close friends and extended family.

Flowers or Memorial contributions may be made to North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation, Inc., 1060 William Moore Drive, Raleigh, NC 27607. Condolences: rfhr.com
