Notes

Alice Marie Mitchell departed this life peacefully at Sunrise of North Hills on December 12, 2013. The youngest of twelve children, she was born on July 14, 1917 in Jessup, PA, to Joseph and Mary Lynch. In addition to her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Thomas Mitchell.

Alice lived in Astoria, NY, and Niagara Falls, NY before moving to Raleigh. She worked as a nurse's aide and unit clerk at Memorial Nursing Home in Niagara Falls.

She had a joy for life, an infectious laugh, and sense of humor that touched many people. Alice loved to entertain, hunt for bargains, travel, read, do crossword puzzles and discuss politics with anyone who might cross her path. Her motto was "just have fun and enjoy life!" Above all, she cherished her family and especially her grandchildren.

Alice was active in many ministries at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was past president of the Altar Guild. She also volunteered for many years at Rex Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Joyce and Bob Moser of Olean, NY; son and his wife, Tom and Ann Mitchell, of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Alicia Erickson (Carl) of Cicero, NY, Amanda Burton (Brian) of Eagle River, AK, Margaret Mitchell and Ashley Mitchell of Raleigh; and great-grandchildren: Jake and Mina Erickson and Ian and Erik Burton.

Visitation from 7-9 pm Wed. Dec. 18 at Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Rd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thur. Dec. 19 at 11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2718 Overbrook Rd. in Raleigh, with a luncheon to follow for family and friends. Innichement in the church's columbarium will be at a later date.

I am sorry to read of the passing of your loved one; please accept my deepest sympathy. While you are grieving, I hope you will find comfort in Jesus’ promise of the earthly resurrection, for those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15) and the renewed Paradise earth, where death will be no more and no family will have to mourn the loss of a loved one.- Isaiah 25:8; John 5:28,29; Luke 23:43. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that GOD cares (I Peter 5:7) and will give you the strength to endure during this grievous time.-Matthew 5:4.
