Notes

Alyce Mae Huber, 86, of Raleigh, known to her oldest friends as Sid, was called home at 1:30 PM, December 10 at her home after a valiant fight against cancer.
Alyce was born November 12, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Ernest Carl and Stella Mundt Nagel. She graduated from North Park Academy in 1944. She continued her education at Northern Illinois University where she was an active member of Tri Sigma sorority and Pan-Hellenic Board, graduating in 1948 with a teaching degree. She married Stanley Huber on June 25, 1949. They lived in Chicago, Park Ridge, and Vernon Hills, IL, and Chesterfield, MO. They had three daughters. While using her vocal music talents as a source of part-time income, Alyce was able to be a full-time mother. She served as a room mother, Girl Scout troop leader and Sunday school teacher.
Alyce is survived by daughters, Carol (Jim) Roberts, Wake Forest, NC; Donna (Kim) Brunner, Bloomington, IL; JoAnn (George) Batten, St Louis, MO; her grandchildren: Jaime (Brad) Weathersby, Joe (Mandy) Roberts,
Mandy Roberts, Raleigh, NC; Jonathan Brunner, Bloomington IL; Jeremy Brunner, McKinney, TX; Daniel Batten, St. Louis, MO; Tim Batten, Columbia, MO; her four great grandchildren: Jack and Ainsley Roberts, Peyton and Taylor Weathersby; and her sister, Merle (John) Petersen, Emporia, KS.
Alyce moved to Raleigh in 1998. She worked at the symphony and was active in Red Hats, 55 Plus and 2nd Cup. An avid reader, knitter, and bridge player, she moved to Abbotswood in 2012, where she quickly made many friends. She attended Grace Community Church, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and most recently North Raleigh United Methodist Church. She will be missed by the many that knew her and called her “Friend”. The family wishes to thank her caregivers Lorie McLain and Inez McKeithan, Dr. Lola Olajade and Erin Adcock of Rex Cancer Center, Dr.John Soper of UNC Chapel Hill, Diane and Sandy from Hospice of Wake County, and the staff of Abbotswood for their excellent care and compassion.
The family has entrusted Renaissance Funeral Home with cremation rites. Her funeral will be at 11AM on Saturday, December 14 at North Raleigh United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Tolley will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, December 13 from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or Hospice of Wake County.

I am sorry to read of the passing of your loved one; please accept my deepest sympathy. While you are grieving, I hope you will find comfort in Jesus’ promise of the earthly resurrection, for those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15) and the renewed Paradise earth, where death will be no more and no family will have to mourn the loss of a loved one.- Isaiah 25:8; John 5:28,29; Luke 23:43. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that GOD cares (I Peter 5:7) and will give you the strength to endure during this grievous time.-Matthew 5:4.
